THE VISION Holistic development encompassing the economically poor and socially weaker sections of rural Indian society with special focus on women and children belonging to the fisherfolk, dalit and tribal communities.
MISSION Promoting quality of life, education, skills for natural resource management and entrepreneurial skill for economic self-reliance. Community action for social change and climate change is the key tool in the armory of development methodology, while gender equity and environmental care are the umbrellas for sustaining the development of people living in and around lake regions and forest areas, who are basically the target group.
Academic research both at Ph.D. and M.Phil, levels are application oriented. At the Ph.D. level the research focus has been on Developmental Economics and at the M.Phil. level the focus has been on Environmental Economics. The research projects undertaken by the students have given ample scope for a learned development intervention. The Ph.D. and the M.Phil studies and research programmes are guided by senior professors of CReNIEO.
